Sacrament of Reconciliation

First Reconciliation preparation is designed to prepare individuals for a healing and forgiving sacramental encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ, known as the Sacrament of Reconciliation, (aka Confession or Penance).   "The whole power of the sacrament of Penance consists in restoring us to God's grace and joining us with him in an intimate friendship." (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1468)

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available for those properly prepared to receive on Saturdays at 9:00 AM.

Note: Registration for Children's Faith Formation is now open!

For children, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is normally celebrated in second grade.  All children who wish to receive First Reconciliation must prepare first for the Sacrament through two years of preparation in grades one and two. Preparation includes regular Faith Formation or Catholic School Religion classes plus several special Reconciliation Preparation classes (with School Children and Family Faith Formation children preparing together).  Preparation also includes a Parent & Child Meeting and a Parent & Child Practice/Mini-Retreat.  First Reconciliation preparation classes are usually scheduled during the Fall, and the Sacrament is normally celebrated at a communal Reconciliation Service during Advent.

NOTE:  It's never too late to receive First Reconciliation.  For children/youth in grades 3-12, please call the Faith Formation office so your child can be welcomed into the program and provided the same opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, as well as the most wonderful Sacrament of the Eucharist.

We delight in sharing this significant time in your family's ongoing faith development and pray that you will be enriched by your experience. For more information, please contact the Faith Formation Office at 941-585-0668 or email using the form below.
