Adult Bible Studies
(Faith Formation for Adults)

At St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church we are called to act with justice, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with God. It is our duty to follow the way of our Lord Jesus Christ as intentional, faithful disciples. We offer a variety of different adult bible study and faith formation opportunities that are designed to help bring genuine conversion to the Lord Jesus and fidelity to His Gospel, while helping you grow in your faith with other members of our parish community. With Jesus and the Sacraments of the Church as our center, our goal is to encourage every parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo to enter a path of following Christ through serious discipleship formation, spiritual growth, and Christian community.

Offer It Up! A Catholic Study on Redemptive Suffering

Have you ever wondered if the pain and struggles we face in life can have a greater purpose? Do you long to find meaning in your suffering and discover how God might use it to bring about healing, hope, and even joy? In this in-depth study, we will explore the profound and often overlooked concept of Redemptive Suffering — the idea that our trials, when united with Christ’s own suffering, can become a powerful source of grace for ourselves and others.
We will begin by clearly defining what Redemptive Suffering is and how it has been understood throughout the history of the Church. Together, we’ll journey through the Passion of Jesus, focusing especially on His agony before the Cross and the deep, silent suffering of His Mother, Mary, as she stood at the foot of the Cross. From there, we’ll look at how the Apostles came to understand and embrace suffering in their own lives, and how countless Saints have turned their pain into a pathway to holiness. We will also reflect on the powerful writings of St. John Paul II, who spoke with compassion and wisdom about the mystery of human suffering.
Using Scripture as our foundation, we will reflect deeply, share honestly, and discover how our own personal suffering — no matter how small or great — can be transformed into a source of joy. This study is not just about theology; it’s about life. It’s about hope. And it’s about finding God in the very places we might be tempted to think He is absent.
Come and discover how personal suffering, when embraced with faith, can transform your life with redemptive joy!
