According to the Gospels, Joseph of Arimathea was the man who donated his own prepared tomb for the burial of Jesus.  He attended to Jesus’ body in death.  Because many parishioners have outlived their family and friends, their funeral or memorial Masses have few, and sometimes no one, to celebrate their lives.  The Arimatheans pray for the deceased, for their families, and represent the parish community by attending funeral and memorial Masses.
